Whether it's taking a daily ritual from expected to extraordinary or discovering the wonderment and beauty of anew travel destination, J.R. McCabe elevates the everyday with timeless taste and comfortable confidence.
I adore a long, leisurely, luxurious breakfast. I love it so much that I will get up an hour early if necessary, just to enjoy this sacred morning ritual. For me breakfast is more than a prelude to the day, it is an occasion of great importance that when met with reverence and ceremony can change your life.
Here are five simple ways you can make breakfast more than a meal:
#1 Set the Table
I set my morning breakfast table the evening before so that when I walk into my kitchen shortly after rising it is as if I am the honored guest at a fancy hotel, beautiful palace, or lovely inn.
#2 Add a Ceremonial Accent
Given that we are elevating breakfast to an experience of ceremony, it is only fitting that you incorporate elements associated with ceremony. I prefer fresh flowers and a proper tea cup and saucer.
#3 Bring in the Baked Goods
I’ve been gluten free for seven years but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying delicious baked goods. Baked goods are the essence of a full breakfast and reminiscent of a bygone era when one woke to the enticing aroma of homemade breads, muffins, or scones. My go-to for scrumptious, quick, and easy gluten free baked goods is King Arthur Flour.
#4 Only Culinary Delights and Conversation Allowed
Aside from culinary delights and ceremonial accents the only other element allowed at our breakfast table is conversation. No phones, no computers, no television, no newspapers. There was a time when I ate breakfast with all of those things. No more. Conversation invites you to be present and when you are present your food tastes delectable and time stands still.
#5 Eat in a High Vibration
Which brings me to the final essential element of a lovely breakfast which is to eat in a high vibration. Allow your words to be those focused on your aims or goals for the day, not your challenges or troubles. Allow yourself to enjoy the crumble of the scone and the sweetness of the fresh grapefruit juice in a slow, intentional manner. Allow yourself to sit, here and now, on this beautiful morning and be so grateful for your long, luxurious, leisurely breakfast. ☕️
