Whether it's taking a daily ritual from expected to extraordinary or discovering the wonderment and beauty of anew travel destination, J.R. McCabe elevates the everyday with timeless taste and comfortable confidence.
When it comes to skincare and beauty I prefer to keep things simple. I use only a handful of products — face wash, toner, moisturizer, and a cool neutral makeup color palette. Here are my go-to products and tips for a timeless and trusted beauty and skincare ritual.
Skincare
I use Lush’s Angels on Bare Skin, which contains kaolin clay, ground almonds, and a blend of lavender, rose, and chamomile oils. The scrub has a sweet herbal scent and leaves you with refreshed, bright, and soft skin. I follow it with Lush’s Eau Roma Water, a calming blend of rose and lavender waters. For moisturizer I use Lush’s Gorgeous, its heavenly fragrance of orange blossom combined with evening primrose oil, pineapple juice, and avocado oil give your skin a divine glow and incredible softness that lasts all day. For an extra boost if I’m traveling, tired, or in the winter months when the weather is particularly dry, I apply Chantecaille’s Rose de Mai Face Oil at bedtime. Crafted from high quality Swiss botanicals, it adds a luxurious layer of nourishment and brings a dewy, romantic brightness to the face. For soft, supple lips I use Chantecaille’s Lip Potion.
Beauty
For beauty, I start with Chanel foundation, and concealer. I love a neutral eye palette of cool beiges and browns. Chanel quad eyeshadow is my go-to as they have the best color combos, the shadow applies and blends well and lasts all day. For a bit of shimmer in the inner corner of the eye I use Chantecaille mermaid eye color. I aways use this brow pencil. When it comes to liner my go-tos are Chanel eyeliner in espresso and Chantecaille silk infused liner in earth. I’ve used the same mascara for three decades — a drug store staple — Maybelline great lash in Very Black.
For blush I stick with Chanel for the same reasons as the eye shadow — they always have the best colors for any season and it stays on all day. I also use Nars Iconic Blush Color in Orgasm.
For lips, Chanel and MAC are my mainstays. When you are in a hurry and just have time to throw on mascara, blush and lipstick, a Chanel lip gloss will add that extra pretty boost that will make you feel put together. The glosses last forever and have the most flattering colors for any skin and hair type. Similarly, MAC always fits the bill whether you have on a t-shirt and jeans or a cocktail dress and prefer a creamy lipstick or a fun shiny gloss.
